November 4, 2016 News

The children had fun at the parade and party on Monday.  They were able to play Bingo, play other games, and enjoy ice cream sundaes.  Thank you to Rachel Dana, Erica Dovenberg, Brandi Garnett, and Jakk Netland for helping to make it a fun morning!  There are some pictures on the Photo page of our blog.

In Writer’s Workshop, we chose our personal narrative small moment story that we want to publish.  Next week, we will learn about different types of leads and try our hand at writing a few.  Then, we will edit and revise and begin publishing!  The children are very excited to type their stories on the computers.

Your children have thoroughly enjoyed learning how to identify birds.  They have been busy learning about different birds we see at our feeders.  We also spent some time discussing why the leaves change color in the fall.

In Math, we spent some time looking at how we can recognize if our answers are reasonable or not.  We also reviewed all the concepts and skills we have learned with this unit and working on the chapter assessment today.  Our next unit is addition problems up to 10,000.  Your children are excited to write the problems vertically!

We have Community Meeting is next Thursday, November 10th.  Our next C.A.R.E. theme is Responsibility.  It is a non-uniform day and your students should wear their C.A.R.E. shirts.

Grandparents and Special Friends Day is just around the corner on Wednesday, November 23rd.  If a grandparent is not able to come, your child can invite a special adult friend (aunt, uncle, neighbor, godparent, etc.)  This is a regular uniform day for Lower School students, and there will be no Extended Day, with dismissal at noon.  Your child and guest do have the opportunity to ride the bus home.  All registration is done online this year.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
